From Mother Maddalena’s Memoirs, describing a last Mass at the Trinita de' Monti, the convent-school where she was educated in Rome: On Saturday, August 14th, we rose at five. Mass was celebrated at six by Father Saturnino at the altar of the Mater Admirabilis... All these little circumstances filled us with great spiritual joy and consolation…We parted with sadness in our hearts; for we left behind us persons who were endeared to us both by the ties of nature and friendship, and whom, in all probability, we should never behold again on this earth.
