- In late November and early December,St. Peter Canisius went on a missionary journey which he took on foot in 1580, covering well over a hundred miles. He went out of his way to reach the Poor Clare monastery called “Paradise” in the canton of Thurgau, Switzerland, and stayed there several days. He told them: “In our Paradise all must keep united in the bond of charity and concord, yielding nothing to anger or contention, for the place of Christ is peace. And we must grow in spirit and become fruitful trees of Paradise, for which we need … the good nourishment to strengthen us, namely the daily sustenance of meditation on the Passion of Christ and the Holy Eucharist.”
