- St. Charles of Sezze had a sister who was a Poor Clare in their native city of Sezze, Italy. He wrote: “God willed to console me with the certainty of the salvation to two of my brothers, who … had died truly Christian deaths during the plague [1656] . The elder one was John Baptist; the younger John. Both were good men… [who] fearlessly exposed themselves to great danger by helping poor, unfortunate people, assisting the priests in bringing the sacraments to the sick … When the contagion struck him, John Baptist received the sacraments… Towards the end he constantly recited prayers with our sisters who was with him every moment; she was then a Tertiary of St. Francis and now is a Poor Clare nun in the monastery of Sezze, Sister Mary Frances of Jesus.”
