St. Catherine of Bologna, a Poor Clare, exhorts all to come to Holy Communion: Assuredly under the species of bread, in order to give Himself as food for our soul still on pilgrimage. And so: "O noble soul — do not make yourself so vile, as not to receive Him — Who desires to come to you, seeing His goodness — being so generous, that of His divinity — He makes for you high payment. Now run, sinners — and delay no longer, for He made Himself into food — that you may partake of Him. Alas, with such great error — the human heart is filled, that He gives such food — yet you would stay far off."
