Saint Clare always wanted the spiritual needs of the Sisters to be of utmost importance: “The chaplain may enter the monastery for confession of the sick who cannot go to the parlor, for their communion, for the last anointing and the prayers of the dying” And, elsewhere in the Rule: “The Chaplain may celebrate within the enclosure in order to give Communion to the sisters who are in good health or to those who are ill.” (Rule of St. Clare, chapter 12 and chapter 3)
