- On June 2, 1903, Mother Maddalena gave a letter to a priest who was advising a prospective postulant. He was to deliver the letter to the young woman:
Now, dear child, let me tell you, do not expect to be always in the choir praying on your knees. We do all kinds of work, in every place, but in silence and recollection. In our manual works we pray, and we glorify God more in them than if we would do our own will. It is very hard to renounce the will. Are you ready to give it to God through the hand of your superior, whoever she may be?
