- Mother Maddalena and Mother Constance stayed for a few weeks in the Poor Clare monastery of Marseilles on their way to America. Mother Maddalena wrote:
The holy Abbess [of Marseilles] made some beautiful prophecies to me. Do pray that they will be fulfilled. She said that I shall indeed suffer much, but that I shall become a saint, and that I shall love Our Lord as much as we can love on earth. She said that I shall be a martyr, but a martyr of the heart, martyr of the soul.
