Mother Maria Amparo of the Sacred Heart, the foundress of the Poor Clare Monastery of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, died on July 6, 1941. That monastery in the town of Cantalapiedra, Spain, revitalized the Poor Clare life in that country. Maria Amparo Delgado Garcia at the age of eight made her First Holy Communion at the age of nine, and even at that young age, felt compelled to consecrate herself completely to God by a vow of eternal chastity. From that time on, Holy Communion and a longing for Jesus marked her whole life. (See also September 8th)
