Mother Maddalena, once prayed: St. Michael, my Holy Guardian Angel, St. Joseph, Holy Father St. Francis and Holy Mother St. Clare bless me and pray to God for me in union with all the Holy Franciscan Martyrs. The Franciscans Peter Baptist and companions were martyred in 1597 in Nagasaki, and Pius IX issued the bull of canonization, “Infinitus” on July 10, 1862 – it is possible that Mother Maddalena was present at their canonization. The feast is celebrated February 5th. One wonders what inspiration Mother Maddalena drew from the history of San Lorenzo itself and the huge mural of the martyrdom of St. Lawrence behind the main altar.
