St. Teresa, when she was planning on the reform of the Carmelite Order, looked to the example of our Mother St. Clare. She writes: “As I was going to Communion on [St. Clare’s] feast, she appeared to me in great beauty, and bade me take courage, and go on with what I had begun; she would help me. I began to have a great devotion to St. Clare; and she has truly kept her word.” - St. Teresa of Jesus, Autobiography, XXXIII:15
