The last four Poor Clares remaining in Havana left Cuba on this day in 1961 to go to New Orleans.  The Sisters had been under terrible pressure: molestations, mobs surrounding their monastery, even the suicide-murder(?) of their maintenance man.  After the Bay of Pigs invasion failed, the relations between the Church and government collapsed. The Sisters would have been imprisoned if they had remained.
