Death in 1271 of Brother Leo, the “Little Lamb of God”, one of the first companions of St. Francis. Brother Leo was a friend of St. Clare and her nuns in San Damiano, entrusting to them a handwritten breviary, a precious relic now known as “The Breviary of St. Clare”. St. Clare’s cousin, Rufino, one of the first companions of St. Francis, also died on this day in 1270.
