- Mother Mary Maddalena and Mother Mary Constance arrived at New Orleans on March 11, 1876. In her Chronicle she designates Archbishop Perché as a good father. We thank God for such a grace. It is said of Archbishop Perché: Force of character as well as gentleness, formed in his nature a beautiful harmony. Thus, did he admire and endeavor to imitate especially the gentle St. Francis de Sales, whose great firmness was hidden by his greater suavity. – Richard Clarke
