Mother Maddalena was afraid that, after the tornado blew down part of the newly constructed monastery, Mr. Creighton would no long want to finance the project. She thought that the repeated destruction of the building might be an indication of God’s Will that they should not stay in Omaha. John Creighton had his own view on the matter and he expressed in his own language: Let the Devil blow it down! I'm here to build it up again.
A priest in Omaha told her: No, Reverend Mother. Stay where you are. God will take care of you. This is the work of the Evil One, who is jealous. Then he added these encouraging words: This house will be a house of saints. (see May 23rd and June 5th)
