The Minister General of the Franciscans wrote to Mother Maddalena on April 13, 1882, congratulating them on receiving permission for the canonical erection of their monastery. Father Bernardine wrote:
Poor daughters, you have suffered very much, you have sighed very often: but now at last you may gather here on earth the fruits of your sufferings; they are a pledge and a promise of those fruits—infinitely more blessed and abundant—which Jesus is preparing for you in heaven.
Now the nest is made; beg Jesus to send you the doves whom He has destined to be His spouses and whom you will try to form and make worthy of Jesus.
In the name of the Holy Father St. Francis, I bless you, your first novices and all who in the future will come to be daughters of St. Clare in this monastery.
