Mother Maddalena made reference to the Easter Sunday services when she wrote to her sister, Matilda. During this time frame she and her sister, Mother Mary Constance, were stranded in New York, waiting for word from their Superiors in Rome:
[Msgr. McGlynn] told us to return [to St. Stephen’s Church] on Sunday for the 10 o'clock Mass, which would be a Missa Cantata with solemn music. We went, and he found good seats for us. He had all the Holy Week ceremonies. Having been in Rome nine years he knew the ceremonies and all the tones. He carried them out in great piety and devotion, so that it was a great pleasure to be present.
