This day would ordinarily commemorate St. John of Capistrano. He was present in the Cathedral of Assisi once on the feast of St. Clare - August 12th at the time – when his friend, St. Bernardine of Siena, was preaching. Bernardine did not preach about St. Clare, but on peace to the strife-torn city. To the Poor Clare’s he preached “penance maintained by love.”
