. Saint Catherine of Bologna, a Poor Clare, exhorted all of us to pray for our priests: O the incomprehensible and uttermost depths of the humility of Christ, who not only abased Himself to assume our most lowly and fragile mortal nature, making Himself obedient unto death, but even to the present and for as long as the world will endure He makes Himself obedient and submissive in descending every day at the sacred words ordained by Him, although they be uttered by the priests. These are but mortal men and subject to sin, even though after such a great and excellent office they ought to be totally holy and celestial. Therefore, most beloved sisters, do not tire of praying to God for them, that He may deign to sanctify all their sentiments, so that, by means of divine help, they may be able to fulfill all that pertains to such an inestimable Sacrament and to treat holily the Body of Christ, the Immaculate Lamb.
